Biography
Prof. Dr. JH (Josine) Blok is professor of Old History and is especially interested in the Greek history of archaic and classical times. She is particularly concerned with subjects relating to the political, religious and social relations in the ancient Greek world. Her current research mainly concerns the theory and practice of citizenship in ancient Greek world, especially in classical Athens, also in comparison with citizenship in modern democracies. In addition, she has an interest in the nineteenth century, especially for the practice of classical studies at that time. Since 2001 she is chairman of the European Network for the Study of Ancient Greek History. Josine Blok is a confidential person from the Faculty of Humanities from 1 January 2015.
