Biography
Jeroen Strating is a postdoctoral researcher at the division of virology. He is investigating the role of host cell lipids and membranes in the replication of picornaviruses. The family of picornaviruses includes well-known human and animal pathogens like the poliovirus, hepatitis A virus and the foot-and-mouth-disease virus. The aim of his studies are to better understand the interplay between the virus and the host cell in order to develop novel antiviral strategies. For this work he has been awarded a Veni grant (€ 250,000) from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) in 2012.
