Biography
Maartje Poelman is assistant professor at the Healthy Urban Living research program of the department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning (www.uu.nl/hul). She is also involved in the Future Food Research focus area (www.uu.nl/en/research/future-food-utrecht). She combines insights from both health- and geosciences to untangle the complex relationship between the food environment, food consumption and health. Recently, she was awarded with a personal NWO VENI grant for her proposal "Geographies of Food Consumption". During this project, she will explore how busy and dynamic lifestyles of urban dwellers, in combination with the food-abundant environment we live in nowadays, affect dietary behaviour.
