Biography
Orlanda Lie (Professor of German and Medieval Studies, University of California, Berkeley) is Professor of Medieval Culture at the Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Humanities. Her publications focus mainly on cultural-historical phenomena, such as the transition from verse to prose in medieval texts, magic in the Middle Ages, the transfer of scholars (Latin) knowledge to a folk-speaking layman, and the process of imaging. She is the chairman of the Workgroup Middle Dutch Art Literature: WEMAL ( www.let.uu.nl/wemal ) Since September 1, 2004, she is a Head of Humanities Department and Associate Professor at University College Utrecht. In 2011 (Fall Quarter) she first held the Utrecht University Mondriaan Chair in UCLA. As of January 1, 2014 she went to Emeritaat.
