Biography
As Associate Professor in Utrecht Center for Accountability and Liability Law(UCALL) asks Rijnhout to ask whether and how liability law contributes to solving social and individual problems. She approaches the law of liability in the field of professionalism, involving her insights from criminal law, human rights and psychology in her research. Rijnhout asked attention for the victims of gas extraction in Groningen, nearers in injuries and victims of public road accidents. Together with UCALL colleague Engelhard, she conducted a WODC investigation into the expansion of the compensation fund for disaster relief. In 2015, together with UCALL colleagues Sikkema and De Zanger, she won the NJV publication award for their contribution to the Stichtse Vecht accident. In education, Rijnhout is active as a program leader of the Master of Private Law and as the coordinator of the Excellent Master Track . She also contributes to the development of honors education at Bachelor level. She developed the subjects of civilology and disciplinary education on criminal and civil liability law. In 2013 and 2014 she was nominated for the Teacher Talent Prize of Law.
