Biography
Dr Sigrid Merx (1975) is an Assistant Professor Theatre Studies at Utrecht University where she teaches in the BA program Media and Culture Studies and in the MA program Contemporary Theatre, Dance and Dramaturgy. June 2009 she finished her PhD thesis on video and the (re)presentation of time in the Proust-cycle, a series of four performances by Flemish director Guy Cassiers. In this thesis, drawing on Gilles Deleuze’s work on time-images, she developed a conceptual framework to analyze time in intermedial performances. She was co-convener of the IFTR working group ‘Intermediality in theatre and performance’ from 2010-2013.
