Biography
Zoë Barry is the founder and CEO of ZappRx, a digital health company that is modernizing and simplifying the way specialty medications are accessed. Zoë launched her career on Wall Street working at the broker-dealer firm DeMatteo Monness and later the hedge fund Dawson Capital. While on Wall Street, her youngest brother was diagnosed with severe epilepsy and in need of specialized care and therapy. Determined to make a difference in healthcare, she joined athenahealth in 2011 where she focused on implementing athenaClinicals at provider practices. After her family experienced firsthand the inefficiencies that plague specialty drug prescribing, Zoë became inspired to launch ZappRx in 2012. Since founding ZappRx, Zoë has raised $42 million in funding. In 2017, Qiming US Healthcare Fund, a venture capital firm based in Seattle that is part of a broader family of Qiming Venture Partners led the company’s Series B round of funding. This round included participation from SR One, who led ZappRx's Series A round in 2014, and GV (formerly Google Ventures). In addition to ZappRx, Zoë is passionate about helping founders launch startup companies. She currently advises 3 startups, including MyLingo (LA), Remy (NYC) and Metiri (Boston). Zoë was awarded Inc. Magazine’s 30 Entrepreneurs Under 30 list in 2015, Boston Business Journal 40 under 40 in 2015 and Medtech Boston's 40 under 40 Heath care Innovator in 2016.
