Ruth Lawson-mcconnell

Biography

Ruth is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with more than 25 years’ experience as a therapist. She specialises in attachment related counselling, offering parent consulting on behavioural and emotional issues in children, counselling families through separation and divorce, as well as counselling people experiencing depression, anxiety and relational difficulties. She completed an MA (Honours) in Psychology at Aberdeen University, followed by a PhD in Counselling Psychology from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. She has authored several journal articles and conference papers as well as providing professional development workshops for counsellors. She trained with Gordon Neufeld in Vancouver, where she lived for a number of years and is a facilitator of his attachment based developmental approach to parenting and teaching. While in Vancouver she attended courses at Regent College.

Research Interest

Her research interests include: The integration of Psychology and Theology, Attachment theory, neuropsychology, research methods in counselling and culturally sensitive counselling practices/decolonising methodologies.
