Biography
Koji employs an interdisciplinary approach to sport studies given that he completed a Master’s in sport management and then a PhD in the sociology of sport. While doing his PhD, he received student / young scholar paper awards from the International Sociology of Sport Association (2010), the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport (2010), and the European Association for Sociology of Sport (2011). His doctoral thesis was recognised on the list of exceptional PhD theses at the University of Otago. After his PhD, Koji held the position of Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Suwon in South Korea. His current research and teaching involve the areas of sociology, policy and sport as they relate to the politics of identity and culture.
