Nancy Vance

Biography

Nancy is a new staff member in the School of Landscape Architecture. She holds an undergraduate degree in Science with Honours and a Masters in Landscape Architecture. She has 14 years of experience as a consulting landscape architect, having worked on a diverse range of projects from parks, plazas and streetscapes, to large scale commercial, residential, public works and institutional projects. With a background in ecology and interest in urban environments, her experience and interests are in the meeting of these two subjects, particularly at land:water interfaces. Nancy has been involved in projects such as: Pegasus Town and adjacent Te Kohanga/Eastern Conservation Management Area, The Palms ‘Arena’ Urban Plaza, Kate Valley Landfill Landscape Management Plan, Housing New Zealand residential development for Christchurch, Port Vila Seafront Park in Vanuatu, and the Public Realm Network Plan for the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA). Her role as consultant in these projects, and many more, has been diverse including: conceptual and detail design, landscape planning, community consultation, documentation or contract management.
