Biography
Professor Sally Poppitt is the founding director of the University of Auckland Human Nutrition Unit, a residential nutrition intervention facility, with research focused on prevention and treatment of conditions arising from poor nutrition, including overweight and obesity, metabolic dysregulation, and diabetic and cardiovascular risk. She has a particular interest in mechanisms which underpin appetite regulation and the control of food intake. Within her role at the University of Auckland she also holds the Fonterra Chair in Human Nutrition and leads the dairy Primary Growth Partnership (PGP) human nutrition platform as part of the joint NZ government/industry funded 7 year program of innovation for dairy science. Recently she has also taken up the role of principal investigator for the metabolic health platform within the National Science Challenge High Value Nutrition.
