Biography
I began work as a specialist in 1994 and am certified for gastroscopy and colonoscopy. I am also trained in and perform motility studies (manometry and oesophageal pH studies). I have particular interest in management of dyspepsia and irritable bowel symptoms, oesophageal and stomach disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition and in screening for gastrointestinal disease (especially colorectal cancer). I am experienced in (and regularly perform) paediatric endoscopy. I am Clinical Senior Lecturer for Wellington School of Medicine. I try to take a holistic approach to the practice of medicine. I have an ongoing interest in clinical research to improve clinical practice. Presently I am involved in investigating non-pharmacologic approaches to management of dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome. I am regularly invited to lecture on gastrointestinal disease to a variety of groups. I am Clinical Leader for Capital and Coast DHB with an interest in better delivery of health care.
