Biography
I qualified MB,BCh in Johannesburg, 1972. I spent four years in general surgery, qualifying FRCS Edinburgh, 1976. Then, Otolaryngology training with FACS (USA) 1986, and PhD (Witwatersrand) 1987. Fellowships, London 1979/80, Toronto 1980/1981. Appointments: Otolaryngologist Johannesburg 1982-1992 (Senior Lecturer), Head and Neck Oncologist, Dutch National Cancer Institute, Amsterdam, 1992-1995. Professor and Chairman, ORL, University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, 1995-2000. Present appointment: Clinical Director, ORL Waikato Hospital and Associate Professor, ORL, University of Auckland. Research Interest
My main interest in clinical practice and research has been and remains head and neck oncology, specialising in laryngology, laser surgery and endoscopy. Head and neck cancer surgery includes paranasal sinus surgery, skull-base surgery and all neck surgery including thyroidectomy. I also practice nasal reconstructive surgery and septorhinoplasty.
