Biography
Dr Chris Hawke first trained in Holmium laser surgery with the pioneers of the technique – Dr Peter Gilling and Dr Mark Fraundorfer – in Tauranga, in 1997. His interest and extensive experience in laser prostate surgery has continued since then, and he has presented and published on various aspects of laser surgery. Dr Hawke became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1999. That same year he travelled to Miami, Florida, and undertook a fellowship in Urological Oncology. After spending the following year working as a consultant in London, he returned home to Auckland. In addition to his expertise in laser surgery, Dr Hawke also performs major cancer surgery. He is also one of the pioneers of robotic surgery in New Zealand and is the first NZ urologist to offer Thulium laser prostate surgery.
