Biography
I graduated from medical school in 1987, and finished my orthopaedic training, qualifying as a specialist, in 1995 in Hong Kong. After 3 years' service at Waikato Hospital, with success in the FRACS examination, I worked as Orthopaedic Consultant at Lakes District Health Board on a full-time basis for 14 years. Apart from broad coverage of general and trauma related orthopaedics, I also have special interest in foot and ankle surgery (involving sabbatical leave with Mr M Tomlinson at Middlemore Hospital). I also have an interest in children’s orthopaedics (having been in charge of the club foot clinic for 10 years and used successful pioneering treatments for inborn medical conditions). It is my personal mission to use my knowledge and skill to serve the general public, and to those in special need. I have generally taken some time off during the year to involve myself in overseas missions, notably in Kenya and remote regions of China, with these trips helping people in need of medical care through voluntary service. I am also associated with Ormiston Hospital in Auckland, which is one of a number of private surgical hospitals within the national Southern Cross Hospitals network, and operated as a joint venture.
