Biography
Grant Christey is a general surgeon with a broad range of surgical interests including laparoscopic and open hernia, biliary and abdominal surgery, endoscopy, thyroid surgery, minor anal surgery. He has specific interests in complex abdominal wall and incisional hernia surgery. He has been a general surgeon and director of Trauma Services at Waikato Hospital since 2006, and there he performs a full range of acute and elective surgery and is Director of Trauma Services and Senior Lecturer in Surgery at Waikato Clinical School. In 2009, he was named an International Scholar by the American College of Surgeons, and now holds dual fellowships with American and Australasian Colleges of Surgery. Mr Christey was born in Te Awamutu and raised in Hamilton. After a science degree and medical training at University of Otago he worked as a trauma and general surgeon in Sydney, Australia, and completed a sabbatical with the Liver Unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. In all aspects of his work, Mr Christey is committed to providing resolutely patient-focused care of the highest quality.
