Research Interest
I am a human geographer who specialises in exploring how individuals and collectives come together to contest disempowering processes that threaten their livelihoods and wellbeing. I am a member of the Community Economies Collective, a group of scholars drawing on the work of J.K. Gibson-Graham to rethink the economy and build more sustainable non-capitalist economic alternatives to support life. I am currently involved in research in two areas. The first explores how alternative socio-economic practices and exchange can foster greater community wellbeing in the face of increasing precarity and socio-ecological uncertainty. The second explores the politics of environmental activism and democratic participation in relation to climate change in Aotearoa New Zealand. I am currently involved in research in these two areas.
