Biography
Dr. Laura Gumy is currently working as a Research Fellow in the Department of Anatomy, University of Otago School of Biomedical Sciences , New Zealand. Her research interests includes Imaging; neurobiology. She is serving as an editorial member and reviewer of several international reputed journals. Dr. Laura Gumy is the member of many international affiliations. She has successfully completed her Administrative responsibilities. She has authored of many research articles/books related to Imaging; neurobiology.
Research Interest
The main focus of Laura's work is the microtubule cytoskeleton and microtubule-based vesicle transport in healthy and diseased/injured neurons. Her research relies on combining high-resolution live cell imaging and quantitative analysis of cytoskeletal and transport dynamics, using advance microscopic assays and tools to visualise and manipulate proteins within cells. She also use different biochemical methods to characterise protein-protein interactions (pull-down assays and mass spectrometry-based protein identification). She employ primary neuronal cultures or non-neuronal cells to image live-tissue.
