Biography
Hamed Peyhani is a PhD candidate in Information Science and researching trade-based manipulation in stock markets and focusing on “marking-the-close”. Based on prosecution cases reported by the US Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) he has constructed an index of the probability and intensity of closing price manipulation as an intelligence monitoring and surveillance framework. Currently he is studying the impact of a new rule change concerning market integrity and efficiency. He also hopes to modify his manipulation index for use on the New Zealand's national stock exchange (NZX). By identifying harms and the level of risk he wants to improve the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) current surveillance system, and make the NZX more efficient and transparent.
