Biography
Jacob's PhD work aims to enhance mobile videoconferencing by allowing users to feel they exist within the same environment rather than two physically separate locations. It is believed this will enhance the sense of co-presence the users feel and allow for richer forms of interaction. Her Honours project laid the foundation for this work through the creation of a modular segmentation pipeline that allows for a user's hands to be separated from live video and overlaid on any virtual or augmented environment.
