Biography
Kayla studied law and sociology at the University of Otago. Her law Honours Dissertation considered New Zealand’s response to the exploitation of children and young people via technological means, with a particular focus on the then proposed Crimes Act 1961 provision of ‘indecent communication with a young person under 16’. After graduating, Kayla conducted a mixed-method research project examining the sharing of personal information of high needs’ clients pursuant to the Privacy Act 1993. Kayla is currently undertaking a PhD examining sexual victimisation of university students.
Research Interest
Kayla is interested in access to justice and socio-legal research methods. Kayla enjoys undertaking research where the fields of law and sociology intersect. She is passionate about social justice and social responsibility.
