Peter Skegg

Biography

  Peter Skegg Educated at the Universities of Auckland (LLB (Hons)) and Oxford (MA, DPhil). His Academic posts have included: Official Fellow of New College, Oxford, 1971-84 (Visiting Fellow 1989, 1996); CUF Lecturer in Law, University of Oxford, 1972-84; Professor of Law, University of Otago, 1984 - 2014. Administrative posts have included: Chair of the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford, 1980-84; Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Otago, 1990-92. Editorial posts have included: American Journal of Law and Medicine International Editorial Board; Journal of Law and Medicine Editorial Board; Medical Law International International Editorial Board, Medical Law Review International Advisory Board, and Journal of Bioethical Inquiry International Advisory Board. Publications (as PDG Skegg) have included: Law, Ethics and Medicine (rev ed, 1988, Clarendon Press/ Oxford University Press: awarded quinquennial Swiney Prize, London, 1989); co-editor and contributor to Medical Law in New Zealand (2006; Thomson / Brookers; received J F Northey Memorial Award 2007) and its successor Health Law in New Zealand (2015; Thomson Reuters); contributions to Adams on Criminal Law and various books; and articles, mainly on topics related to medical law, in general law reviews (eg Law Quarterly Review, Cambridge Law Journal, Modern Law Review), specialist journals (eg Medical Law Review, Journal of Law and Medicine, Journal of Medical Ethics), and local publications (eg Otago Law Review, New Zealand Universities Law Review, New Zealand Bioethics Journal).
