Research Interest

Suzanne Hanlin has three main fields of research that support and inform dental clinical practice and teaching in New Zealand (NZ). Clinical Practice Based Research Network (PBRN) – retrospective practice assay and mixed method translational research that informs health care policy, patient care and improved oral health outcomes in the New Zealand (NZ) population. I chair the board of the ARCH (Applied research through clinicians hands) – dental PBRN. My research themes are related to practitioner understanding of clinical and research ethics of NZ dentists, patient outcomes around dental implants therapy and vital pulp therapy. Dental Education – mixed method research on curriculum development in prosthodontics and cariology, evaluation of learning outcomes, assessment, translation of knowledge and development of critical thinking, and development and evaluation of blended learning modalities in research ethics. Health informatics in dentistry – the use of dental health data to inform health delivery and improve patient outcomes.
