Biography
Renee Bullock is a geographer from United States and is based in IITA, Bukavu, DRC. She is a Postdoctoral Fellow Gender Research Assistant. She obtained her MA in Geography in 2010 and a PhD in 2014 from the University of Florida. Her PhD research included understanding the role of gender in spice value chains and organic certification in East Usambaras, Tanzania.Her work is mainly involved in mainstreaming and integrating gender in Humid Tropics research and projects in Eastern and Central Africa. She conducted a GENNOVATE Gender Norms and Agency study in Western Kenya in 2015 to better understand uptake of technologies by women, men and youth. Her future research in DRC will focus on understanding gender dynamics and labor issues surrounding important crops such as cassava in households and value chains.
