Biography

Dr. (Mrs.) Abu hails from Ifeku Island in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria. I was born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Alphonsus Ezeh of Umuakpogwu, Imilike in Udenu local government area of Enugu state. I had my primary education in the town Community Primary School, Imilike-Ani and secondary school at Iheaka Girls Secondary School, Iheaka, Igbo Eze South local government area of Enugu State. I got admission into University of Nigeria, Nsukka where I studied Botany and graduated with second class upper division. Thereafter, I got M.Sc and Ph.D in Genetics and Plant Breeding in the same University. I hold a certificate of University of California, Davis African Plant Breeding Academy. Presently, I am a senior lecturer in the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. I have served the University in diverse capacities – member of different committees and coordinator of Faculty genetics course (Cytogenetics) for more than ten years. I have published many articles in some reputable local and international journals. I am also member of various national and international professional bodies, some which are Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON), Genetics Society of Nigeria (GSN) where I am serving a second tenure as the national secretary (2012 - Date), Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (BSN), Society for Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (SOSEH), I am also a Pastor. I am married to Samuel, a senior Pastor with Divine Grace Liberation Assembly, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria. Our marriage is blessed with children. My hobbies are gardening, reading Bible and Christian literatures, preaching the gospel, listening to music and taking long walks.
