Biography
Anene Moneke had his secondary education at Government College, Umuahia (1975) and tertiary education at University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he graduated with B.Sc. (Hons) in 1980 and Ph.D. in 1997. He was a DAAD Research Fellow at the University of Tuebingen, Germany in 1996.Dr. Moneke is a Professor of bioprocess physiology in the Department of Microbiology, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His research interests are in the optimal exploitation of production organisms in the advancement of bioprocesses, microbial ecology & biogeochemistry in oil polluted environments,bacterial degradation of aromatic compounds & man made environmental pollutants, evaluation of local raw materials in brewing & food industries and studies on biotransformation systems for the generation of useful compounds. He is also interested in renewable local raw materials for bio-fuel production.He has attended and presented papers at several scientific conferences across the globe and has published several peer-reviewed scientific papers in impact factor journals. He has supervised two Ph.D. students and thirteen M.Sc. students and is currently supervising fifteen M.Sc. students and four Ph.D. students. Professor Moneke is the current Head of Department of Microbiology, University of Nigeria and Chairman, University of Nigeria Water Resources Management Laboratories Limited.

Bioprocess Physiology; Food & Industrial Microbiology including brewing raw materials and optimisation of the brewing process; Environmental Microbiology; Renewable energy.
