Biography
Chibuike, G.U. is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Soil Science, University of Nigeria. She obtained her first degree (B. Agric. Soil Science) in 2010 from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka graduating with First Class Honours. Her Master’s degree (M.Sc. Soils and Environmental Pollution) was obtained in 2013 from the University of Reading, UK where she graduated with Distinction. Chibuike, G.U. is a recipient of “The Felix Scholarship” award 2012. Her research interests include soil microbiology, soil fertility and environmental management. She is particularly interested in how soil microorganisms (especially mycorrhizal associations) can be harnessed for soil remediation and fertility management. She is equally interested in how soil amendments (such as biochar) affect the activities of soil microorganisms and hence soil fertility. She teaches the following courses at the undergraduate level: plant and soil analysis; principles of soil chemistry and microbiology; introduction to land and soil resources; agricultural physics. She is a member of Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN) and International Union of Soil Science (IUSS). She has also published articles in both local and international journals.
