Enechi Chukwuma Osmund

Osmond Chukwuma Enechi was born on July 17, 1957 in Nimbo in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area Council of Enugu State. He started his elementary education at Santana Primary School Awo-Omamma, Imo State. He later moved to St. Mary’s Primary School Enugu, to complete his elementary education in 1971, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. For his Secondary Education, he schooled at the Enugu High School, Enugu between 1971 and 1975. He passed out in 1975 and in 1978, he gained admission to read Biochemistry at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He graduated in 1982 with B.Sc (Hons.) and did his one year National Service in Ondo State as a school teacher. He left for Enugu State at the end of the programme and took up appointment as a school teacher between 1988 and 1989. He enrolled for his Master’s Degree in 1984 in Pharmacological Biochemistry which he bagged in 1988 at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and subsequently obtained his Postgraduate Diploma in Education in 1990 and in 2011, he was awarded a PhD in Pharmacological Biochemistry in the same institution. In 1989, he joined the College of Agriculture, Ikwo as a Senior Scientific Officer and was appointed the Head, National Diploma Programme in the same Institution. In 1992, he joined the Enugu State University of Science and Technology where he was appointed the Pioneer Co-ordinator, Department of Medical Biochemistry. In 1993, he took up another teaching appointment with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2004. While at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, he has been engaged in teaching, research and administrative duties. He had served as the chairman, Environmental Committee, Faculty of Biological Sciences; Secretary, Examinations Committee, Faculty of Biological Sciences; Registration Officer, Department of Biochemistry and member of different Faculty and Departmental Committees. He is currently carrying out research projects on the Nutritional, Pharmacological and industrial potentials of indigenous plants. He has published several journal articles and three biochemistry textbooks which are currently being used by undergraduates in several higher institutional in Nigeria. He is married with three children.
