Biography

I first studied Science Technology and obtained HND (Microbiology option) at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, in 1989. Later, I pursued my postgraduate studies at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria, where I obtained PGD M.Sc. (Medical Microbiology) in 1996, and later Ph.D. (Environmental Microbiology) in 2006. Before going for my Ph.D. programme I shared some industrial experience, first at Rock-Tama Natural Spring water bottling company at Nanka, Anambra State, as the pioneer Production Manager, between 1998 and 2000. I also worked briefly in a pharmaceutical company in Lagos, in 2004, as a Quality Assurance Microbiologist. In 2005, I joined the services of Kogi State University, Anyigba, Nigeria, as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology. Between 2007 and 2008, I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow of the University of Cape Town, South Africa, in the Bioprocessing Engineering Research Unit of the Department of Chemical Engineering. While at the University of Cape Town, I attended a short course on Aseptic Processing in the Manufacture of Biotech and Pharmaceutical products at The University of Stellenbosch and Lifelab Continuing Education, South Africa, in June, 2008. I returned to Kogi State University in September, 2008 and later, moved to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in July, 2011, as a lecturer in the of Department of Microbiology where I am till date.
