Ike Anthony Chibuogwu

Biography

Anthony C. Ike is a Senior Lecturer in the Medical Microbiology team in the Department of Microbiology. He teaches and supervises postgraduate and undergraduate students. He obtained his BSc. degree in Microbiology from the University of Nigeria and both MSc and PhD from the University of Hohenheim, Germany. He worked briefly in Germany, first as a Research Assistant and then as a Research Scientist in the University of Hehenheim and Baden Wuerttemberg Health Office, before coming back to take up appointment in the University.

Research Interest

Main research interest is on human virology and some important animal viruses like Newcastle disease virus (NDV). Starting with the epidemiology of the viruses, to characterize them and check for the genetic interactions between viruses and between virus and host. The ultimate aim is to establish preventive measures including contribution to vaccine production
