Biography
`Professor Dozie is a public health scientist, teacher and community health mobilizer with the Department of Public Health Technology, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria. He has deep interest in the ecology, epidemiology, socioeconomic aspects and control of infectious diseases of tropical prevalence and persistence, as well as reproductive health issues, environmental sanitation, hygiene and infection control. In particular, Professor Dozie had in the past carried out studies on onchocerciasis (river blindness), lymphatic filariasis, guinea worm (dracunculiasis) etc. Currently, Professor Dozie is interested in studies on malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, hygiene and infection control as well as the public health impacts of some non-communicable disorders (NCDs) of increasing prevalence in his local environment such as diabetes, cancer, hypertension, cardiovascular disorders etc. Professor Dozie is committed to human capacity development and has continued to mentor young scientists to contribute to national and international scientific endeavour. He is a Fellow of some academic societies and a recipient of many honours and awards. Furthermore, he is a consultant/resource fellow to some national and international agencies including World Health Organization (WHO), African Programme on Onchocerciasis Control (APOC), Ministry of Health (Federal and State), Ministry of Foreign Affairs etc. Professor Dozie has published several well researched articles on issues of public health importance in peer reviewed journals and delivered several invited papers nationally and internationally. He has travelled widely and enjoys reading, writing, analytical discussions and soccer.
