Biography
Nwigwe, Chukwuemeka was born in 1977 in Amagunze in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State where he hails from. He had his primary education at Community Primary School Isi-enu Amagunze between 1986 and 1991. He proceeded to Ondo town in Ondo State where he had his secondary education in two different schools: Holy Flock of Christ Grammar School and Ondo Boys High School, both in Ondo town, between 1991 and 1993 and between 1994 and 1997 respectively. He gained admission to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he studied Fine and Applied Arts from 1999 to 2003, majoring in textile design. After his national youth service in Katsina State in 2004, he enrolled for a master's degree (MFA) programme in his alma mater. Spurred on by one of his teachers, Dr C. Onuora, during the programme, Mr Nwigwe, studied nest structures and design as the focus of his MFA research. In 2008 he ended the programme and he won the prestigious Sandor Peri Art prize which was meant for the best graduating studio artist in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, UNN. The following year he joined the ranks of the academic staff of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His Ph.D programme which he began this same year is, at present, near completion. He was awarded in 2003 the Shelter Origin award for winning the logo design competition organized by the organization. He has many journal publications; he has also participated in several art exhibitions. Nwigwe Chukwuemeka is a born again Christian. He is married and the union is blessed with three lovely children.
