Biography

Upon graduation as M.A. student in the Department of Archaeology and Tourism, University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2005, Dr. Emeka Okonkwo was offered an appointment as Graduate Assistant in the same department after evaluating his excellent performance as best graduating student with Grade Point Average of Five (5). Emeka rose to the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2012 and got his PhD in 2013 from the same department. From 2005 to date, he has attended many national and international conferences, published many scholarly works and has equally conducted many research works in tourism planning and development. Single handedly, he concertized and mobilized Nsukka youths on the values of tourism potentialities within Nsukka localities for tourism development. This movement gave birth to National Youth Tourism Club. His love for social interaction led him to belong to many organizations and corporate bodies including Arts Council of African Studies Association – ACASA; African Institute for Applied Economics – AIAE; West African Archaeological Association – WAAA) where he renders his modest service to the nation. In recognition of his excellence and proficiency, Dr. Okonkwo Emeka was conferred with Educational Leadership Award by the Nigerian Institute of Industrial Administration (NIIA). At present, Emeka is the Project Coordinator at the Centre for Environmental Soundness Analysis (CESA) based in Nigeria and United Kingdom; as well as a Research Fellow in many research institutes including African Institute for Applied Economics (AIAE).

Ethnography; Cultural Resource Management with emphasis on Indigenous Knowledge/Cultural Practices; Cultural Tourism, Tourism Planning and Development; Quantitative Methods in Tourism, Financial Management in Tourism Operations
