Biography
Dr Chuka Ononye, born in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria, is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and Literary Studies, University of Nigeria (UNN), where he teaches courses and undertakes research across under/post-graduate levels. He obtained his BA from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 2004; PGDE from the University of Nigeria in 2012; MA and PhD from the University of Ibadan in 2008 and 2014, respectively. He has served in many professional and administrative capacities both in the UNN and the former places he has worked. His research interests lie in discourse analysis, stylistics, pragmatics and critical linguistics, with specific focus on the nuances of language use in conflict and violence discourses as manifest in (non-)literary texts. His academic papers have appeared in Studies in Pragmatics, Indonesian Journal of Applied Linguistics, among other university journals across Africa. He is a research fellow of Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO) Germany, among other learned bodies.
Research Interest
Discourse analysis, stylistics, pragmatics and critical linguistics, with specific focus on conflict/violence discourse as manifest in literary and non-literary texts.
