Biography
Lars Thunell, PhD, was the CEO and executive vice president of the International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group, the largest global development institution focused on the private sector. He brings over thirty years of management experience. Before leading the International Finance Corporation, he served as CEO of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, the leading corporate bank in Sweden. He was also CEO of Swedish insurer Trygg-Hansa and president and CEO of Securum, a bank model for financial crisis management. Mr. Thunell is also a non-executive director of Standard Chartered PLC and Kosmos Energy Limited, a senior advisor to the Blackstone Group and the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and chairman of African Risk Capacity Limited, a mutual weather index insurance company sponsored by the African Union. He received a PhD from the University of Stockholm and was a research fellow at the Harvard University Center for International Affairs.
