Biography
Industry leader Kjell Inge Røkke (born 1958) is Aker ASA's main owner and has been the driving force in Aker since the 1990s. Røkke started his career when he bought a 69-foot trawler in the United States in 1982, and gradually built a leading worldwide fishing company: Capture and onboard production of whitefish. In 1996, the Røkke-controlled company RGI acquired enough Aker shares to become Aker's largest owner, and later merged with RGI with Aker. Røkke is a board member of Aker Solutions, Aker BP, Ocean Yield and Kværner. As of 31 December 2016, Røkke owns 50 673 577 shares (68.2 per cent) in Aker ASA through its owner company The Resource Group TRG AS with subsidiaries, which he owns with his wife Anne Grete Eidsvig, and has no options. Røkke is a Norwegian citizen. He has been selected for the period 2016-2018.
