Biography
Dr. Ira Braunschweig is the Director of the Stem Cell Transplant Program and the Clinical Program Director of Hematologic Malignancies at Montefiore. After graduating from New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Braunschweig completed his residency in internal medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He went on to do his Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the world renowned M.D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and stayed on there as a faculty member for three years on the Blood and Marrow Transplant program.
Research Interest
Starting at Montefiore in March 2003, Dr. Braunschweig has built the Stem Cell Transplant program into a high volume, quality program recognized by the highest cellular therapy governing organization (Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy or FACT).His interests include the treatment of acute leukemias, lymphoma and multiple myeloma, especially using stem cell transplant as a platform for immunotherapy to treat these disorders.
