Biography
Michael Kerin has been Professor of Surgery at NUI Galway and Galway University Hospitals since 2004. As Consultant Surgeon he has a special interest in breast cancer and endocrine surgery. He was appointed Vice Dean of the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences in 2014. He is the current Director of the Lambe Institute for Translational Research at NUI Galway. Michael Kerin has been Professor of Surgery at NUI Galway and Galway University Hospitals since 2004. As Consultant Surgeon he has a special interest in breast cancer and endocrine surgery. He was appointed Vice Dean of the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences in 2014. He is the current Director of the Lambe Institute for Translational Research at NUI Galway.
Research Interest
Michael is Research Director of Breast Cancer Research which funds much of the cancer research in the Discipline of Surgery. He is Principal Investigator on the Irish Cancer Society BREAST-PREDICT project, co-investigator on the Science Foundation Ireland-funded Biomedical Diagnostics Institute ONC2 project and has previously received funding from the Health Research Board and Molecular Medicine Ireland. He is Chair of the Saolta Cancer Strategy Group, Chair of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) CPD Committee and Council Member of the RCSI.
