Biography
Bernard Kear is the State of New Jersey Professor in the Department of Ceramic and Materials Engineering and Director of the Centre of Nanomaterials Research at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Previously, Professor Kear held the positions of Scientific Advisor at the Materials Sciences Laboratory of Exxon Research and Engineering and Senior Staff Scientist at United Technologies Research Centre in Connecticut. Bernie’s work has covered areas that include intermetallic compounds, superalloys, rapid solidification, surface modification and chemical synthesis of nanophase materials. He sits on several advisory boards, including the Department of Materials Engineering at Drexel University, the Materials Processing Centre at MIT, and the NBS Board of Assessment. He is also affiliated with many professional societies and chaired the Board of Governors of Acta Metallurgica in 1987 and the National Materials Advisory Board in 1986.
