Biography
Dr. Berger joined the Company as Vice President Research and Development October 2017. He has over a decade experience in the antibody discovery and development field. He joined the Nextera Management Team from Pieris Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company. As Associate Director he was heading the mammalian expression laboratory and was responsible for the cell line and process development as well as manufacturing of immune oncology projects. Prior to joining Pieris Dr. Berger worked for six years in Pierre Fabre. As a Senior Scientist he humanized and optimized several antibodies that have entered pre-clinical and clinical development. Before joining industry, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Otago (New Zealand) and at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein (Germany) where he managed an industrial collaboration with Genmab. He received his PhD in immunology from the University of Cologne.
