Biography
Stuart is Assistant Director of Research and Strategy at Breast Cancer Now, a newly created charity formed by the merger of Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Stuart is currently, with a brilliant team of people, working to create Breast Cancer Now. Specifically he is working across the organisation to develop organisational and research strategies as the charity establishes itself. He is also looking at how the charity can better engage and bring together our communities of researchers, supporters and patients across the UK and Ireland.
Research Interest
Following a PhD at Cancer Research UK in 2008, Stuart joined Prostate Cancer UK where his career in research management began. In 2009 he moved to Breast Cancer Campaign, where he led various aspects of the research funding functions of the charity. Notably, he helped to create and develop the Breast Cancer Campaign Tissue Bank, the UK's first national breast cancer tissue bank. Having acted as Director of Research at Breast Cancer Campaign between 2012-2013 Stuart led the publication of their landmark Gap Analysis 2013 - a review of the gaps in breast cancer research published in the journal Breast Cancer Research and the development of a research centered vision and action plan to tackle the gaps.
