Biography
Engebretsen is MPhil (intellectual history) (2001), PhD (2006) and a full professor (2012) of interdisciplinary health science (with emphasis on the philosophy of science). He is currently appointed (Oct. 2015) Research Director at the Faculty of Medicine with the academic responsibility for the first medical postdoctoral training programme in Norway. His current research is mainly concerned with the discourse of ‘knowledge translation’ in medicine, its different genealogies and how it might be expanded by drawing on theories of translation from linguistics, philosophy and anthropology.
