Biography
"Cato RP Bjørndal is currently appointed as Lecturer at the Department of Teacher Education and Educational Studies, University of Tromsø. He is the head of the research group in supervision. His primary research focus is the guidance and supervisor's development in different contexts. Bjørndal has been academically responsible for 1999 and has worked on further education in guidance education. Today he is also responsible for master's degrees in supervision. He also guides students writing guidance or related topics, at the master's and doctoral level. For almost 15 years, Bjørndal has worked very intensively with the supervisor's development work, including through observation of guidance talks, interaction analyzes, including active use of video footage. During the period, he has observed, analyzed and discussed several hundred guidance talks. Bjørndal has worked closely with supervisors in very different contexts such as school, health, public administration, business and other organizations. He has also collected extensive research material on guidance talks and supervisors' efforts to develop quality in their own conversations (as of today this is probably the largest in the Nordic countries of its kind). In addition, he works with other research projects aimed at providing guidance. Bjørndal himself has experience as a supervisor from several different contexts."
