Biography
"Erik Christensen was appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at UiT The Arctic University of Norway in 2010. He received his Ph.D. from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and his research was funded by the Research Council of Norway and the Program for Functional Genomics. Christensen has been a visiting researcher at the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Georgetown University (2008). He has held a fellowship in Ancient Greek Philosophy from the Research Council of Norway (2000), and a Greek Government Scholarship (1999-2000). Christensen has also been a visiting researcher at the Norwegian Institute at Athens (1999-2000). Christensen is an appointed member of the Research Ethics Committee at UiT The Arctic University of Norway (2013-2015). He is on the Program Board for the one-year program in gender studies at the Center for Women's and Gender Research, UiT The Arctic University of Norway (2013-2017)."
Research Interest
Christensen's research interests focus on political philosophy, ethical theory and bioethics. In particular, he is interested in multiculturalism, liberalism, egalitarianism, virtue ethics, conceptions of the good life, the duty to participate in biobank research (human genetic databases) and bioethics committees
