"Born 1953. Cand.theol Oslo 1979. Ph.D. Emory University, USA 1987. Seminar lecturer at the Methodology Church's Theological Seminar, Bergen 1980-83 and 1986-91. Associate Researcher at the NCC Center for the Study of Japanese Religions in Kyoto, Japan, 1985-86. Associate Professor at Finnmark University College 1991-97. Current position at the Department of Religious Studies, University of Tromsø from 1 August 1997. Member of the Amercian Academy of Religion, USA and The Lomonosov Foundation, Russia."
