Biography

Prof. Khan started his service career as university Lecturer in 1986 in the Institute of Horticultural Sciences. Brilliant he was, he rapidly rose by dint of hard work to the enviable position of full professor in 2006. As a teacher he taught at all levels. He has produced large number of M. Sc. / PhD students as major supervisor and also served as thesis dissertation committee member for different departments. He has established “Citrus Nursery Sanitation Laboratory.”, ever first in the country, at the Institute of Horticultural Sciences, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. Further, he has developed certified Citrus Foundation Trees to provide basis for high quality virus free citrus plants for the stake holders. Professor Khan is also honored to act as research coordinator for Australian (ASLP) citrus project at Faisalabad campus. He has published enormously in national and international refereed journals having good Impact Factor. His current Impact Factor is more than 7.0. His scientific publications have been very well recognized and cited by 25 international scientists. Furthermore, he has published books entitles, 1. Citrus Nursery Raising: Principles and Practices, 2. Citrus Gene-pool of Pakistan. He has served the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad as an elected member of Syndicate, the Governing Body at levels of Assistant and Associate professor for six years. Prof. Khan is a much sought after scientist and has represented Pakistan in numerous international conferences. Through sheer dedication, love of the profession, initiative, drive and nothing less than a missionary zeal, he has carved himself a position of international eminence among the leading horticulturist at national and international horizons. It would not be out of place to mention here that he remained member of various scientific societies including, American Society for Horticultural Sciences and International Seed Science Society. Further, he is an invited reviewer to evaluate scientific articles for publication in journals of international repute. In recognition of Prof. Khan’s academic as well as developmental achievements in the area of agricultural sciences, I recommend him for the award of PAS Gold Medal. Dr. M. Mumtaz Khan has more than 25 years of academic experience. His expertise is in production horticulture with special interests in crop water relationship (biotic stress mechanism), deficit irrigation, waste water use in agriculture and sustainable greenhouse vegetable production. Before joining SQU he has taken several academic assignments at national and international levels. Dr Khan has published in peer review journals, book chapters and books on production horticulture. He was successful in securing research funds and served as coordinator in an Australian research project. He remained member of various scientific societies.
