Biography
Dr. Ijaz Ali [Fulbrighter] is associate professor at the department of Biosciences, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad where he is working as head of the Molecular Virology Group. Previously, Dr. Ali has worked as head of the Health Biotechnology Division at the Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, AUP and also as Research Officer at the National Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology University of the Punjab. Dr. Ali has also worked at the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma USA. His major interest is molecular virology with particular focus on HCV, HBV and the dengue virus. Dr. Ali's lab has made significant contribution towards understanding viral evolution, antiviral resistance mechanisms, molecular epidemiology of Infectious diseases and identification of non-invasive biomarkers of diseases.
