Dr. Muhammad Awais

Biography

Dr. Muhammad Awais is an Assistant Professor at Department of Electrical Engineering, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology. He completed his MS leading to PhD. from VLSI Lab, Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, Politecnico di Torino, Italy. During his PhD research, he investigated efficient digital design of advanced channel decoders using CMOS and beyond CMOS implementation technologies. He designed IP cores of high performance, multi-standard LDPC decoders for a number of wireless communication applications including WiMAX, WiFi and Nand Flash storage. His current research interests include efficient design and prototyping of LDPC decoders for next generations communications, FPGA accelerators for several signal/image processing application, High performance Digital ASIC design. He is also involved in the collaborative research in the domain of applied optimization for 5G communication and smart grids. He is a member of IEEE, PEC. He is peer-reviewer of a number of renowned Journal/Transactions.
