Biography

Dr. Muhammad Umer is Assistant Professor at CIIT, Islamabad for Biological Sciences. An internationally prestigious scholar, Dr. Umer earned his PhD in Biology from Imperial College London, UK. He studied the potential of Miscanthusspp. as Bioenergy/Biofuel crop. He has more than five years research and teaching experience in - renewables specially with the reference of production of bioethanol, fermentation, enzymology of biofuels, - plant beneficial bacteria, biochar and soil and plant nutrition. He has produced MS and BS students under his supervision. He has developed two noval courses on Advanced Biofuel Technology for undergrad and postgrad students and currently teaching at CIIT. His research interests are focused on investigation of enzymatic degradation of plant cell walls of different tissues and cell types, studying the changes in starch and carbohydrate content with the help of staining and chemical assays at different harvesting times & exploitation of metabolic capabilities of microorganisms to facilitate biofuel production.
