Biography
Amen Jaffer is a sociologist trained in urban ethnography. His teaching and research interests include religion and politics, social theory, urban marginalization, social networks and spatial citizenship. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the New School for Social Research. His doctoral research inquired into the nature of sacred power in Punjabi cities by examining everyday spiritual life in religious institutions and marginalized communities. Currently, he is supervising a comparative research project on the discourses and practice of urban citizenship in Pakistan.
